2012 NHL All Star Game Voting is On

November 11th, 2011 · No Comments

NHL hockey fans are able to vote for their favorite players to be in the 2012 NHL All Star Game. The game will be held on January 29 at Scotiabank Place in Kanata, Ontario (home of the Ottawa Senators).

Fans can vote on nhl.com, through their mobile devices and also through the NHL’s Facebook page.

One of the surprise teams in the NHL this year is the Dallas Stars and that is reflected by them having five players on the ballot. In the Eastern Conference the Pittsburgh Penguins have the most names on the ballot with six, which of course also means they lead the NHL in ballot nominees.

In the past allowing fans to write in votes has given the NHL some headaches as there have been grassroots online efforts to nominate players with less than all-star caliber resumes. We’ll see if fans get up to those shenanigans again. Often the hometown host team will lead the league in voting and push some of their players up the list so look for Ottawa Senators like Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson to get more votes than usual.

Fans looking to attend the game are going to have a tough time finding tickets. The NHL controls the event and very few tickets ever make it out to the public, if any at all. After season ticket holders of the Senators get their crack at them, players and executives get theirs, every team gets a share then there is typically nothing left for public on sale.

There is hope though. Find 2012 NHL All Star Game tickets on sale and see this awesome once-a-year event live at Scotiabank Place.

October 27th, 2011 · No Comments

With a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas last night, the New York Red Bulls have advanced in the MLS playoffs and will face the Los Angeles Galaxy next. The Western Conference Semifinals begin this Sunday, October 30th, at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

The Red Bulls weathered a strong first half by FC Dallas and took control of the game with a goal in the 61st minute by Joel Lindpere and capped the victory with a 98th minute tally from Thierry Henry.

Demand for Sunday’s game is high as the LA Galaxy are one of the top teams in the league and Red Bull fans will want to come out to support their team at the 25,000 seat Red Bull Arena.

The Galaxy piled up 67 points in the regular season and are the team to beat in the MLS playoffs.

Game 2 of the two game series will be at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on November 3rd.

The winner of the series will be determined by aggregate score, so if you’re going to win game 1, win it big. With this setup, teams will be looking to score as many goals as possible and that will surely make for exciting soccer.

NHL Winter Classic Tickets in Philadelphia Hot Item

September 26th, 2011 · No Comments

With today’s official NHL announcement that the 2012 NHL Winter Classic is definitely being held at Philadephia’s Citizens Bank Park, fans are storming to the internet to purchase tickets.

Featuring the New York Rangers vs the Philadelphia Flyers, the worst kept secret in professional sports was finally confirmed today as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said it was the first date all attendees were available.

For the New York Rangers, President and General Manager Glen Sather stole the show by stating the Rangers would win the Winter Classic game and then go on to win the Stanley Cup just like the New York Yankees are going to win the World Series. This was met with a chorus of boos from the 1500 Flyers fans in attendance who obviously disagreed.

The rivalry goes back to the 1960s when the Flyers entered the NHL and it has a long, and abrasive, history. It will only get tougher and this could be the most physical and hotly contested Winter Classic ever, don’t miss out on the unbelievable chance to be at this great event - find your NHL Winter Classic tickets today.

ACC Tournament To Host All Star Level Competition

September 21st, 2011 · No Comments

With recent changes in the structure of so many of the NCAA conferences, it has recently come to light that Syracuse and Pitt, two of the strongest basketball teams in the nation year after year, will be abandoning the Big East in favor of the ACC.

By doing so, they will be joining other perennial favorites Duke, North Carolina, Boston College, Clemson, Virginia Tech and several other strong teams.

As a result, the Big East Tournament will continue to be strong as they still have Georgetown, St. John’s and Louisville among others. Rumors persist UConn and Rutgers may also leave the Big East but nothing solid has been learned yet.

While these changes will not go into effect until 2014, demand is going to be off the charts for ACC Tournament tickets once they have Syracuse and Pitt included. Both teams have a rabid fan base and will surely develop instant rivalries with their new conference opponents.

The MLB All Star Game and Home Run Derby will be in Kansas City next July. Fans are already buying up tickets as these are the top two baseball events of the summer year after year.

Looking further down the road, there are rumors that the MLB All Star Game will be held at Wrigley Field, with the 2016 season being looked at.

However, the Cubs are looking to undergo a major update/renovation to Wrigley Field which may put any hopes of hosting the mid-summer classic well into the future.

Commissioner Bud Selig has implied that these reports that Wrigley is the leading candidate for the 2016 All-Star Game might be optimistic, if not altogether mistimed due to the planned renovations. They simply will not be completed in time to host the 2016 All Star Game.

The 2012 game in Kansas City is making an appearance there for the first time since the 1970s, fans are ecstatic at the chance to see their favorite ballplayers compete in the All Star Game and Home Run Derby at their home field.

US Open Tennis — See the All Stars of the Tennis World in NYC

August 3rd, 2011 · No Comments

The US Open Tennis Championships is set to begin later this month, August 29th to be exact, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Long Island.

The best matches take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium so if you are interested in acquiring any US Open Tennis tickets, keep that in mind. The other court is Louis Armstrong Stadium, which still hosts some significant players but typically the best players are in matches held at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

US Open Tennis tickets seem to be an increasingly difficult ticket to find out here in the New York tri-state area. Year after year there are stories of fans going to the venue to try to get tickets at the gate and a little internet research shows that attendance has been on the rise every year until 2010 when there was a small dip. Attendance is expected to exceed all previous highs this year as Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams take the courts as the favorites to win the respective men’s and women’s titles at the 2011 US Open Tennis Championships.

Rather than fight the crowds and find yourself in a bidding war, or worse yet, soldout and unable to gain entrance at all, it is advisable to purchase US Open Tennis tickets ahead of time and avoid the hassle, possible scams/counterfeit tickets etc. We recommend using a trusted, secure ticket broker to get the best seats at the best prices. Select-A-Ticket has been selling US Open tennis tickets since 1978. That’s a long history of successful ticket sales and satisfied customers.

All Star Lineup Making New York Jets a Hot Ticket

August 1st, 2011 · No Comments

The New York Jets have been knocking on the AFC Championship door and now that the NFL lockout has ended and teams are getting back to business, the Jets seem to be determined to kick that door down and make their first Super Bowl appearance since their famous victory over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.

With maturing quarterback Mark Sanchez, the Jets believe they have the on-the-field general to lead them to the promised land. Adding another weapon in wide receiver Plaxico Burress, the Jets have stolen a bit of limelight from their Meadowlands Stadium co-tenants, the New York Giants by signing their Super Bowl XLII hero in Burress. Burress is expected to provide a reliable 2nd option for Sanchez after primary receiver Santonio Holmes.

While they missed out on All Pro  defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles when everyone expected the Jets had the inside track, the New York Jets re-signed cornerback Antonio Cromartie to keep their defense among the best in the NFL.

With high expectations following two consecutive appearances in the AFC championship game, these recent signings have fired up New York Jets fans even more as the 2011 season is quickly approaching.

Visit SelectATicket.com for all your New York Jets tickets needs, including Meadowlands Stadium parking passes.
